Route 46 Passaic Avenue to Willowbrook Mall
- Project includes roadway widening on Rt 46 WB and roadway reconstruction on Rt 46 EB between Passaic Avenue and the Willowbrook Mall.
- Roadway work includes grading, drainage, utility relocation, paving, lighting, and sign structures.
- Structural work includes demolition of the existing Rt 46 EB bridge over the Passaic River and construction of a new Rt 46 EB bridge over the Passaic River.
The project was constructed utilizing Value Engineering Designs prepared by Anselmi & DeCicco, Inc. which resulted in a significant credit ($1.6 million) to the project.
- The original design proposed construction of a (4) span structure carrying Rt 46 EB over the Passaic River.
- Anselmi’s alternate design eliminated (1) proposed pier that was to be constructed within the Passaic River. The alternate design included construction of a new (3) span structure carrying Rt 46 EB over the Passaic River. Drilled shafts (36” diameter) were utilized for the pier and abutment foundations.
